Ambassador Sergei Aleinik met with Mr Kitack Lim, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization

December 5, 2016 Ambassador of Belarus in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sergei Aleinik met with Mr Kitack Lim, the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization.

During the meeting, the Secretary-General welcomed Belarus’ accession to the Organization as its 172nd Member. Prospects for cooperation have been discussed, as well as some joint steps to follow the full-fledged membership of Belarus in the IMO.

The Ambassador conveyed to the IMO Secretary-General the instruments of accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Convention on Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic, 1965, the Protocol of 1988 relating to the Protocol of 1988 relating to the International Convention on Load Lines, 1966, and the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974.

Visiting the IMO Headquarters in London today, the Ambassador also delivered his speech at the IMO Council meeting, in which he addressed Belarus’ accession to the Organization.
