The delegation of Belarus is participating of in the 30th Assembly of the International Maritime Organization

27 November – 6 December 2017 the Assembly of the International Maritime Organization is holding its 30th Session in London. For the first time ever the Republic of Belarus is taking part in the work of the Assembly. The delegation of Belarus is headed by the Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the IMO Sergei Aleinik. The members of the delegation include officials of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus

The head of the Belarusian delegation delivered his statement at the plenary on 28 November. According to the head of the delegation, Belarus is eager to ensure the efficiency of its national maritime administration which is the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus. It is also declared that Belarus is ready to be actively involved in the Organization’s activities and employ the IMO’s potential to develop international shipping with the participation of Belarusian shippers and carriers.

During the session, the delegation of Belarus had some bilateral meetings with the delegations of other IMO member-states. The parties exchanged views on important issues within the scope of the IMO and identified certain promising fields for cooperation.
