Belarusian delegation participates in Zero Emission Vehicles Summit in Birmingham (United Kingdom)
12.09.2018On 11 – 12 September 2018 representatives of the National Academy of Sciences, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UK, and the Holding Company «Belkommunmash» are taking part in the first Zero Emission Vehicles Summit in Birmingham, Great Britain.
The Republic of Belarus became one of the eleven countries that joined the signing of the Summit Declaration. The Birmingham Declaration is aimed at active governmental support to widely introduce electric public transport in order to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the environment. Among the signatories, there are such countries as Denmark, France, Indonesia, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, UAE, as well as states of Australia, Mexico and US.
Signing the Birmingham Declaration will present Belarus among the active supporters of «Green Economy» creating additional mechanisms for transforming agreements into joint research and development, and implementation of emission-free transport and related infrastructure, as well as for attracting foreign investment in this advanced sector of industry.
The Belarusian delegation held meetings with representatives of the Department of International Trade, a number of British cities and transport administrations, developers of electric transport and infrastructure technologies, during which prospects for cooperation in this highly promising area were discussed.
Reference: Zero Emission Vehicles Summit was announced by the Prime Minister of Great Britain Theresa May on 12 December 2017 in Paris. The international conference in Birmingham brought together about 500 participants from all over the world, including ministers, politicians and industry experts involved in the development of national strategies to reduce carbon emissions from the use of traditional vehicles, R&D specialists and automakers.
