Bilateral science cooperation

The UK is among the countries that provide the most significant humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Belarus. In the United Kingdom there are more than 100 socio-humanitarian organizations helping Belarus overcome the consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The UK ranks third among foreign countries in receiving Belarusian children for recuperation. For the period from 2010 to 2016 in the UK there have been rehabilitated 7750 Belarusian children.

Contacts in education and culture, in the  scientific and technical sphere, in the sphere of sport and tourism are effectively developing. They involve the Belarusian State University, the Bolshoi theatre of Belarus, National Library of Belarus, sports associations and twin cities.

On February 27th, 2017 the British Library hosted a conference devoted to the 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and Eastern European book printing. The conference was attended by a wide range of representatives of the British public.
